Super Bowl Size-Up
We're in for a treat this year, folks. There's guaranteed to be a black starting QB in the Super Bowl (barring injuries). Too bad McNair couldn't make it and have my dream of an all black QB Super Bowl actualized, but it still will be fun to watch a "mobile" QB in the big game. If TO can make it back, watching him and Donovon would be awesome. Either way, I'll be cheering for the black QB... unless of course, the rookie some how pulls a rabbit out of his hat. Despite having already beaten the Pats and it being Pittsburg's home game, they're still the underdogs. Go figure. But they already ended one of NE's streaks, so here's hoping they'll end Brady's 7-0 as well. Go Steelers!

Halo 2 the (Master) Chief
Ah, Halo 2! You would think it serves solely for purposes of male bonding, but it's funny how many girlfriends bond in their distain for this game. Their boyfriends might not know each other, but the girls know one thing.. they all hate Halo. And us guys love it. After the last Halo party my buds and I had, situations changed and we were out of a venue for future Halo partying, which is why it made my day when Andrew brought word of another Halo party--a "Halo 2 Fest 2"--this time w/ new lambs for me to slaughter. Once again, I will go toe to toe w/ 15 other guys. Once again, VGS and I will circle the enemy base in our warthog for 5 minutes, as I fire 3000 shots at them, holding them prisoners in their own camp. Once again, girlfriends will be jealous.

i've been doing a little bit of reflecting lately. i'm not a very good reflector in general - it doesn't come naturally. i find i reflect best when it's spontaneous - i'm doing something with my hands/feet that doesn't require any brain power and then all of a sudden my brain starts thinking! wow! amazing.
so anyhow, i've come to realize that i keep letting life pass me by. i keep letting the urgent, immediate things take priority above the important, never urgent things. like keeping in touch with ppl. or reading up on topics i'm interested in and would like to work in one day. or spending an entire day in prayer and scripture. or learning about what i should do with my money. or taking an inventory of my entire wardrobe. or shopping. and then whenever i do have a rainy day saved up (it's great at work, we've got compressed work weeks!! so i can work an extra 30-60 min to accummulate enough time for a day off!), i veg and relax or sleep cuz i need it. hmm... time to re-do my life.

So last week Ben and I took our women stateside to do some post X'mas shopping. We ate lunch at Johnny Rockets at Walden Galleria. Being as I haven't recorded a Quote of the Day in years, here's one from that day at lunch...
Menu: American Fries.
Me: You know, I'm tired of my fries tasting like they haven't showered for weeks. I think I'd like to try some fries that are ignorant and warmongering.
Ben: Yeah, I want fries that are arrogant and kill innocent fries for oil.
Me: I'm tired of fries that need other fries to save their butts in wars.
Ben: I want my fries to taste like a*******.
The rest of our convo that day consisted mostly of talk about our Halo 2 Fest we had just prior to that day--but more about that later...

i totally agree with ann. the tsunami in southeast asia was a terrible, horrible tragedy that killed thousands of ppl and left even more homeless. and it's great that so many in canada, and all over the world, have been moved to give and pray for the relief efforts and rebuilding of the areas affected by the earthquake.
but take a look at all the other tragedies (listed in ann's blog) that occurred in the past that killed just as many, if not hundreds of thousands more, that the world did not respond to with such compassion. it really does put things into perspective.
as the world becomes smaller and smaller, and we become more and more a global community, perhaps things will change. including the response to the AIDS crisis around the world, and especially in sub-saharan africa.

a new yr, a new beginning. *sigh* i like fresh starts. or psychological fresh starts anyhow. :)
the holidays have been a nice time of relaxing. even though i worked 2.5 days of the wk, it still felt like i had a chance to slow down and rest, hang out with family, and do some general tidying up (though still lots to do!). at least i got all my sewing done!
my sis just left to go back to school. it was fun hanging out with her around the house. :) i miss her already!
i haven't come up with too many new yr's resolutions yet. there are always things i'd like to change, improve about myself. i think the one i'd really like to keep this yr is to be more reflective.
i wonder if i've faded into anonymity yet.... :P i sure hope so!
