hm, i haven't blogged regularly in a looong time. i almost miss it.
well, tonight is the first night in who knows how long that both my parents are not home! for once they've left me and nate alone at home to fend for ourselves. :D this is rare cuz while other parents will take time to go on trips themselves after their kids have grown up, my parents (esp my mom) have never done that cuz they don't trust that we will survive in a house all by ourselves. so this is a big deal. :P (yes, you will note that nate and i are 23 and 25 yrs old :P)
anyhoo, tonight i really wanted to eat meen gun for dinner cuz my mom left me a note telling me to open a can for dinner. except the darn electric can opener wouldn't work!!! it's old and cracking. and my mom took the manual can opener for my sis to use. and i can't find the can opener i bought when i lived by myself. (since our house is full of junk. no one knows where anything goes.) HMMM. i was sooo frustrated - you should've seen me tonight. :P the possibility of eating meen gun was driving me nuts! lol. i loooove the stuff. and now i'm still very unsatisfied with my meen gun craving lingering... >.< i'm gonna have to have it tmr night!!!

Fahrenheit 9/11
****
This movie certainly succeeds in doing what it set out to do, which is to get me to hate the war on Iraq and the Bush government all the more. And I guess complacent Americans as well. It would probably do so for you as well, even if you're not a fan of Moore and his smuggishness.

1 corinthians 13
If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. If I give all I possess to the poor and surrender my body to the flames, but have not love, I gain nothing.
Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away. For we know in part and we prophesy in part, but when perfection comes, the imperfect disappears. When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put childish ways behind me. Now we see but a poor reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known.
And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.
powerful words.

50 First Dates
****
I guess after Anger Management, Adam Sandler no longer goes nuts and starts smashing stuff in his movies anymore. Some of his earlier movies were good, but now all he does is his stupid schmuck cutesy act. I like his edgy stuff, I don't like his coy garbage. Dare I say it, he makes chick flicks now. This one doesn't even have an ending.

wow, it feels like forever since i last blogged.
guess what?
GOD IS WORKING!! i had a sense of it today at church.
awhile ago, i sat in service with the ccf crowd. they always sit on one side of the gym, all together in a bunch. i usually sit with others when i'm not doing worship, but this time i decided to sit with them. it was interesting what i saw around me as more groups of ccf ppl came in - some late, some on time. they'd head towards their spot in the gym and nod or smile in acknowledgement of their friends sitting around them, even after the service had started. they exuded a sense of warmth, community, deep friendship. it wasn't just one of those acquaintance type smiles or nods. but a friendship nod. i wished that for delta, our univ/college/career fwp. our group was just starting to get to know each other, but really weren't/aren't that tight yet.
but what i saw today really encouraged me and showed me that we are on our way, slowly but surely, to become a real community like the ccf'ers. i walked in late and sat down beside a ccf guy (didn't know his name). i looked around me to see who else was there and saw debbie and kalam sitting together along with some others, cecilia sitting with sharon, jen, and karina, and ed and megan sitting together with a couple others. and i was like WOW!! ppl that i wouldn't think would normally sit together or even really talk to each other. and this sense of excitement washed over me as i realized we are really getting somewhere. God is working! and i really appreciate those who have gone out of their way to make ppl feel extra welcome at delta and at cpc. you know who you are! :)
i had a missions committee meeting after service and jon and phyllis both shared about the plan for their exciting adventures coming up in turkey and costa rica. judy, the chair of missions committee, is on a trial period of one yr. during our meeting, she shared that God's given her a burden for the young families in our church - parents with little kids and she feels the need to bring them together in community. and then peter said that at their last esc meeting, eugene had been given the task of finding someone with a heart for that area of ministry and asked if judy had talked to eugene. but she hadn't!! so the esc and judy were both thinking along the same lines independently!!! the spirit is moving.
and the other cool thing was that we all agreed that if God has put that burden on judy's heart, she should be serving in that area. and even if that means that she has to step down from being the chair of missions committee, God will provide someone else who's right for the job. and you know what? there is absolutely no one at all that i can see on our committee right now who would be willing to take up that position. that means that God is gonna work a miracle!! i'm so looking forward to seeing the outcome of this miracle. :) i love this kinda thing that requires faith.
i took a washroom break during the meeting and went down to the second floor which has a window overlooking the gym. i looked down and saw 4 ppl praying!!! i think it was ACTS ppl, but wow - it was the most encouraging thing to see at that moment for me. ppl actually PRAYING at church. not just during service or fellowship or whatever when everyone prays and they have to, but praying cuz they WANT to! cuz they're earnestly seeking God. (ok, i think that just sounded really bad, but i sorta feel that way...) last night at upper room, a guy shared about how he's been going to pray at his church every day for a revival and that reminded me of my lack of faithfulness in praying for my own church. so much prayer is needed. everything starts with prayer. praying is the foundation of it all. we need to pray. God is working!!

Go Flames Go!
Every year I always secretly hope to see some guy hoisting the Stanley Cup to trip and fall and put a big huge dent in the cup. I mean, they're on ice, they're tired, they're excited, there are cables on the ice, lots of stuff going on all around.. there's go to be an accident waiting to happen somewhere in there. I think the closest I've seen is someone losing their balance for only a little bit. I don't want to see it happen to Iginla tho. That guy is cool. If I were a 12 year old collecting hockey cards again, he'd be one of my favourite players. Not only is he the best player in the league and fun to watch, but he's also a nice guy in the interviews. I like how Calgary colours their C black now that he is their captain. I thot that was a nice touch.
man, it's been awhile. busy but fun wkd coming up! will blog soon.... hopefully.
